Frequently Asked Questions

Everything founders ask before starting a build with Zulbera — pricing, timelines, ownership, technology, and how we work. Still have a question? Get in touch.

About the studio

What is Zulbera?
Zulbera is a premium, senior-only software development studio that builds custom SaaS platforms, enterprise web applications, mobile apps, and AI-powered products for funded founders and growth-stage companies. Founded in 2020, the studio operates as a hybrid distributed team across Hong Kong and Europe. Zulbera takes full ownership of architecture, development, and delivery — it is not a staff-augmentation agency and does not place developers by the hour.
Who founded Zulbera?
Zulbera was founded in 2020 by Jahja Nur Zulbeari, a technical architect with over 10 years building custom SaaS platforms and enterprise web applications for European and US clients. He specialises in API-first architecture, multi-tenant SaaS, and compliance-heavy verticals such as FinTech and HealthTech.
How experienced is the team and how is it structured?
Zulbera is deliberately small and senior-only. Every engineer assigned to a build is a senior practitioner — there are no junior developers billed at senior rates and no hand-offs to an unseen offshore bench. The studio has delivered 120+ projects and holds an aggregate rating of 4.9 out of 5 across 20 verified reviews.

Pricing & timelines

How much does it cost to work with Zulbera?
Engagements start at a €20,000 minimum. A typical project ranges from €25,000 to €500,000+ depending on scope, with most custom SaaS builds landing between €30,000 and €150,000. Pricing is fixed-scope per phase rather than hourly, so you know the cost before production begins.
How long does a build take?
After a 2–3 week paid discovery sprint, most builds run 10–24 weeks in sprint-based phases with weekly demos and a staging environment. A focused SaaS MVP can ship in roughly 10–14 weeks; larger enterprise platforms take longer. Timelines are agreed during discovery before any production commitment.
What does the engagement model look like?
Four stages: (1) a paid discovery sprint to lock architecture, scope, and team match; (2) a build phase of 10–24 weeks with weekly demos, staging, and continuous deployment; (3) launch and handover including load testing, a security audit, production cutover, monitoring, and documentation; and (4) an optional ongoing partnership retainer for new features and infrastructure.

Working together

Who owns the code and IP?
You do. On handover the client owns 100% of the source code, infrastructure, and intellectual property — including repositories, documentation, and deployment configuration. There is no vendor lock-in and no licensing of the core product back to you.
Can you work with our existing codebase or team?
Yes. Zulbera takes on greenfield builds as well as existing products that need to be extended, re-architected, or rescued. The studio can operate as the full product team or integrate with an in-house team, owning specific systems end to end.
What technologies does Zulbera use?
The core stack includes React, Next.js, Astro, Node.js, TypeScript, Flutter and React Native for mobile, PostgreSQL and Supabase, Stripe Connect for billing, and the OpenAI and Anthropic Claude APIs for AI features — deployed on AWS with Docker and GitHub Actions. Technology choices are made per project, not forced from a template.
How do you handle AI features?
Zulbera builds LLM integrations, RAG architectures, AI workflow automation, and intelligent data pipelines using the OpenAI and Anthropic Claude APIs. AI is treated as an architectural decision — the studio scopes where AI genuinely creates leverage rather than bolting it on for marketing.

Locations & compliance

Which markets and regions do you serve?
Zulbera works primarily with clients in the United Kingdom, the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), the Netherlands, North America, the UAE, and Asia-Pacific. With team coverage across UTC+8 (Hong Kong) and UTC+1 (Europe), there is broad working-hours overlap with the UK, DACH, and Asia-Pacific.
Are your builds GDPR and regulatory compliant?
Yes. Zulbera builds GDPR-compliant architecture with EU data residency available (Frankfurt, Dublin). The studio has hands-on experience with FCA, PSD2 and SCA for UK and EU fintech; BaFin and VAIT for German financial services; nFADP and Swissmedic alignment for Swiss healthtech; and SOC 2 Type II readiness on request.
How do we start a project?
The fastest path is to book a private consultation via the contact page or email hello@zulbera.com. The first conversation scopes the problem and confirms fit before any paid work begins.
